EJE Recycling & Disposal, Inc., and Energy-Inc., LLC, are pleased to announce the first commercially viable alternative waste technology that promotes sustainable “green” energy for more jobs and less reliance on landfills. A privately funded facility will be located at EJE Recycling solid waste transfer station near Greenville, North Carolina, initially operated at 100 tons per day (TPD) during a trial demonstration period, later increased to 600 TPD from within Pitt County.
The facility will use Advanced Thermal Conversion Technology (ATCT), based on the time-tested pyrolitic gasification process (NOT incineration), to recycle 90% of the MSW waste stream into combustible gases and harmless carbon black. The gases will be used to generate power or biodiesel fuel, while the carbon black is an industrial raw material. The process produces no odor or leachate, and the system meets rigid California air quality standards.
This project represents a significant financial investment in the environment and the future economic development of Greenville and surrounding counties. The facility is expected to generate 75 new jobs. Tipping fees are expected to be commensurate with (or lower than) current costs for hauling and disposal.
A formal media announcement and a demonstration of the technology will take place on November 5, 2010, at 2 PM at the Whitehurst Lake House, 903 Whitehurst Lane, Washington, NC, next to the premises of EJE Recycling.
